ALS Freight Management is the legacy of one man and a truck.
The Calongne Companies were founded in 1927 by A. Russell Calongne. He began with a single truck, working tirelessly, moving residential goods. As the demand for his quality services increased, Calongne’s company experienced a slow-but-steady growth over the next 15 years.
In 1942, at the onset of America’s involvement in World War II, Calongne was fortunate enough to be awarded a US military contract to transport munitions and supplies to cargo ships docked at the port of New Orleans. This enabled continued growth, since Calongne was able to obtain necessary fuel and tires, commodities normally rationed during wartime.
Today, descendants of Russell Calongne continue the family legacy, operating a more streamlined, agile version of the business out of New Orleans, Louisiana. With hands-on management, and decades of experience, the company consistently provides quality service at a fair price. The partners feel their dedication to excellence and commitment to their customers are the main reasons for their long-term success.
